We are a family of faith called to embrace and celebrate the diversity of our community.  We strive to be the servants of Christ, sharing God's grace and hope with the world.

Missions
Involvement

Some are called to go,
others are called to give,
all are called to pray.

God’s love is so great, so steadfast, that it compels us to share the love that has been lavished upon us. We share this abundant love with our neighbors as we participate in God's work, building His Kingdom here on earth.  AHUMC has a living tradition of missions in our local community and around the world.  Throughout our history, we have been an outreaching congregation -- offering our prayers, our presence, our gifts and our service.  As we serve our neighbors in mission, we experience God's work in our own lives.
Hands-On Opportunities
These "hands-on" activities are planned at various times
throughout the year, namely the Great Day of Service in the Spring.  Third Saturday each month is an opportunity to serve dinner at Union Gospel Mission.
Monthly Collection Sundays
Collection of items for need-based agencies is now a firm tradition at AHUMC. Look for the missions area in the Atrium each 2nd Sunday of the month.
Annual Events
Regular annual missions provide members with giving traditions they can count on each year. Many groups within the church have their own annual missions in addition to committee sponsored events, such as Blood Drives, Thanksgiving Baskets, the Christmas Angel Tree, and the Christmas Post Office.
Around the World
Global needs are an ongoing concern at AHUMC. Members have given to several issues in the recent past through projects like the Senior and Junior High Youth Mission trips and the purchase of animals for poverty stricken families through Heifer Project International.  Most recently, funds were collected and donated to UMCOR for Tsunami relief in South Asia, and for Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief.

Mr. & Mrs. Companions Class collects all those little soaps and shampoos that you get during your stay in hotels.  They are donated to the Day Resource Center.  So, bring them home and leave them in the classroom #201-West.  Thanks!
